Rainer and I hiked to Hidden Lake Peak on Sept 12, 2013
Driving north in early morning weekday traffic
Rainer's first stop. Siri helped him find it.
Breakfast and lunch provisions
After a mile in the forest we emerge from the mosquito squadrons and head up the wildflower meadows
Moving past the meadows to the heather and rock gardens
This is sweep panorama created with an iPhone. If its a high contrast day it can't handle the dynamic range. That's why the sky is blown. Note: Most of these trail-side grab shots are taken with the iPhone.
Looking back at the meadows and Mount Baker on the horizon
Water streaming over a trail side boulder. I refilled my water supply here on the way back.
The gneiss / granite debate
I say granite, you say gneiss, lets call the whole thing off. Mount Baker in the distance
Approaching the saddle, heather gardens give way to rock and boulder fields with broken trail and some moderate route finding challenges.
Hidden Lake from the saddle. Looking east across the lake one can see Forbidden Peak, Boston Peak, Johannesburg Mountain, Mount Formidable and others.
An exposure test shot with the fish eye lens includes Hidden Lake and my pack. I'm getting ready to create the 360 panorama.

A day hiker descending Hidden Lake Peak. He's travelling really light and consequently making good time.
Rainer pausing in the heather and rock gardens on the way down
Rainer heading into the wildflower meadow switchbacks
The wildflower meadows on this hike are the most expansive in my experience
Hiker ascending the meadow trail to make an overnight at the lookout
Yes, dogs are allowed
